13.1 million Children experience food insecurity. (Stats @Feeding America) Hunger is a reality for more than 50 million people in America. That’s 1 in 6 people who don’t have access to enough food. How will we take a bite out of hunger this year? Join the CHS Harvest for Hunger food and fund drive to knock out hunger in our community.
CHS Bingham Cooperative participated in the 2018 Harvest for Hunger drive held March 1-20 through a variety of fundraising activities, including a Mexican Food Dinner and Silent Auction in American Falls set up and organized by Jim & Cindy Grauberger and a Raffle and fund raising efforts in Blackfoot with lots of help from Jackie Young and Ronda Cheatham.
In 2019, we had our 2nd Harvest for Hunger Benefit in American Falls, Idaho and for the 1st time since we started with Harvest for Hunger we donated $ 6,461.75 to the American Falls local food bank the Willow Bay Food Pantry, located at the Willow Bay Baptist Church. Jim Grauberger spoke with the food pantry and they are extremely thankful for last year’s donations, which served food baskets to 130 people on both Thanksgiving and Christmas with this money. Food Pantry employees are going to help with our benefit again this year by contacting businesses and helping us serve.
Lisa from the Food Pantry said they purchased the following items for the baskets:
• 3,182 lbs. of Frozen meats, vegetables, and other perishable items
• 3,813 lbs. of Nonperishable items
• 140 Turkeys
• Hygiene products
• Diapers size 1-5 (2 cases of each for the last 4 months)
“Hunger exists everywhere, even in rural communities. We may never know that the family next door or the neighbor down the street struggles to put food on the table. But, we are in the business of feeding the world, which is why this 9th annual CHS Harvest for Hunger campaign is so important to us. Through this campaign, we are helping our local food banks, the Community Dinner Table Food Pantry in Blackfoot and the Idaho Food Bank through Willow Bay Baptist Church in American Falls fight hunger right here in our communities. We want to make sure everyone gets enough to eat every day, locally and across the world.”

A very special Thank You to the American Falls Community and Businesses for supporting the Mexican Food Dinner and Silent Auction. It was a great success in its 1st year ever and it was a lot of fun!! The food was awesome and the auction items were amazing and a great value for all who participated.

We are excited to kick off our 9th annual Harvest for Hunger campaign! CHS Country Operations business units are working together on a food and fund drive to fight hunger as we are, once again, partnering with our local Food Pantries Community Dinner Table (CDT) in Blackfoot and the Idaho Food Bank through Willow Bay Baptist Church in American Falls, to reach our donation goal.
This years Harvest for Hunger event will gather Cash, Cans & Crops Now through March 20th. Farmers are producing the food, now let’s make sure it gets to those that might go hungry without our help.
To give even more back to our communities, CHS Inc will match donations for every dollar or pound of food donated up to an established maximum. This helps your dollars go further through our food and fund drive. This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to multiply the impact of every donation we make. Let’s work together to make a difference for those in need of help in feeding their families.
Financial donations are encouraged, it enables food banks to leverage their buying power to provide nutritious food at deeply discounted rates. $ 1 = 6 pounds of food. When you go to the grocery store, can you buy 6 pounds of food for $ 1.00? Probably not. Our local communities also win when CHS Country Operations make a contribution to help friends and neighbors right here in our community.
